SUEÑOS DE MUJER, BARRERAS DE IMMIGRANTE is a photo-ethnography project that consists of portraits and testimonies of Latina Immigrant Women taken by Mari Mujica. The portraits invite viewers to appreciate the gaze of all the women photographed and are complemented by testimonies which describe some of the barriers women face as immigrants.

The series reveals the inequities that exist even among women who share not only a Latina and Immigrant identity but dreams and aspirations as well. Unequal access to education and opportunities, to a violence-free existence and to the possibility of naturalization or the ability to obtain "papers" are exposed not only in the words of the women but also through the freedom, or lack thereof to disclose one's identity. Not having to hide one's face is in and of itself a privilege not all Latina Immigrants have.
