Yoga
As a Kripalu trained Yoga teacher I make sure your practice is safe. I encourage you to listen to the wisdom of your body and to breathe. The breath is probably the most important part of your practice.
Modifications are provided throughout the practice and props are on hand to support individual needs so that every posture is accessible to all students and that every student has a satisfying practice regardless of experience, flexibility, size and/or musculoskeletal structure.
Classes are 75 minutes long and include:
- • Initial centering meditation
- • Pranayama (breathing exercises)
- • Asana (postures)
- • Relaxation
- • Closing
Gentle Yoga
This class is for those who are familiar with yoga but prefer a gentle and slow practice. Students are led into each pose slowly and mindfully and are encouraged to maintain the postures for 2 to 3 breaths before releasing slowly and mindfully. A pause for resting and integration completes each asana.
Beginners Yoga
This class is for those who have no prior yoga experience. Each movement, breath, and posture is thoroughly explained and demonstrated before being guided. Students are led into each pose step by step and are encouraged to maintain the postures for 1 or 2 breaths before releasing also slowly and mindfully. As in a gentle yoga class, a pause for resting and integration completes each asana.
Chakra Yoga
This class focuses on asanas, breathing and exercises that are helpful to strengthen and rejuvenate the energy centers of the body, or chakras. Brief descriptions of each chakra precede the exercises. Breath is used to support the work of releasing excess energy and energizing blocked areas of the body. No prior yoga experience is required.
